Notes on Shaw's Selected Short Stories A huge part of the Modern Library series disappeared in 1971, but Irwin Shaw's Selected Short Stories remained in print until late 1973 or early 1974. The collection, compiled by Shaw especially for the Modern Library, was exempted from being cut; Random House's rights to the collection evidently lasted as long as it remained in print. The bindings of the post-1970 holdovers could be quite odd, as demonstrated by this strange Shaw example that John Krygier found. Also note that post-1970 printings of the dust jacket have ISBN numbers on the back.
