The true first printing of The Federalist (139.3) has a 3-line acknowledgment to the Carnegie Corporation of New York below the statement FIRST MODERN LIBRARY EDITION. A second state of the first edition has a tipped in title leaf with a four-line acknowledgment to the National Home Library Foundation. (This four-line acknowledgment appears in all subsequent printings.)
