Butterfield 8 first appeared in the regular Modern Library series very late in the fall or early winter of 1961. (It was a Modern Library paperback in 1957.) But in a number of bibliographic sources, it shows up as first appearing in the Modern Library series in 1952. These sources are wrong, probably the result of someone entering information incorrectly and then having that information quoted by others.
