But the descriptions are there so when I have my laptop with me somewhere looking for books and I cannot get on the internet to look at the website photos that I will have some clue what the A, B, C and D mean without seeing pictures of them. The Letter designation will be in chronological order for any of these posts. If the descriptions confuse someone s/he can ignore them, glance at the photos on the site and say A, B, C, etc... in order, and thus correctly name them. If so, what happens if a new DJ is discovered with dates falling between two existing dates? We may find it restricted to just one season, or a very tight range of dates. ------------------------------- Following up on this theory, I have confirmed that the Adams jacket WITH the intro text (the jacket with the 1963 date on modernlib.com, and what Darrell calls "C") is the standard jacket for that entire period (40's, 50's, 60's). That jacket exists with 268 titles, wrapped around a #7 binding book. This makes it a Fall 1939 jacket. I don't know if the #7 binding is the larger size, as found on 11.3 of that time. I'll try and find out. Scot, A new jacket appearing occurred to me. That's why they have a letter designation AND the brief description. Its like new Toledano #'s for variants. We have a couple now that are not in chronological order even though they pertain to the same title. IF we have a new "in between" jacket the brief description will be crucial and it doesn't hurt that ithe description was there "from the beginning," rather than needing to be introduced when the problem arises. Because, after all, until the problem crops up, anyone who can look at the website can just ingore the description and say their A, B, C's. Darrell -------------------------------------
