| Thread Name: Blank End Papers
From: Ron Holl <modlib@removed> Date: Sun, 26 Nov 2006 18:39:44 -0500 Does anyone have a regular ML (in any type binding) that has blank end papers with a dust jacket that does not have an ISBN? I'm attempting to test a theory. ------------------------------------- From: Larry Turner <jklturner@removed> Date: Sun, 26 Nov 2006 16:39:29 -0800 (PST) I have "In Dubious Battle" (115.2) FMLEd (1939), no dj, in binding 8 with blank end papers. Hope that helps ------------------------------------- From: Ron Holl <modlib@removed> Date: Sun, 26 Nov 2006 19:48:22 -0500 A binding 8 from 1939 and blank end papers?! Do the pages have a top stain? This sounds similar to the Bemelmans first (or there abouts) that had a blank inside dj. ------------------------------------- From: Larry Turner <jklturner@removed> Date: Sun, 26 Nov 2006 17:02:15 -0800 (PST) Gray top stain on the Steibeck. ------------------------------------- From: Ron Holl <modlib@removed> Date: Sun, 26 Nov 2006 19:42:41 -0500 I did a closer inspection, and found 6 titles with blank end papers and an ISBN; 3 with blanks and no ISBN. The three without an ISBN were in an 'l' jacket, the 6 with were either 'n' or 'o'. I was trying to find some way to show that the blank end papers were only used after 1970. ------------------------------------- From: "JOSEPH HILL" <goodbooks@removed> Date: Mon, 27 Nov 2006 00:54:25 GMT Yes, some editions of 11.3 , this is a known factor and we have gone over this before ------------------------------------- From: Scot Kamins <kamins@removed> Date: Sun, 26 Nov 2006 16:59:06 -0800 You might do a ListServ archives search of "blank endpapers" (16 hits) and "blank ebd papers" (2 hits) with "Search Thread Names and Message Content" checked. ------------------------------------- From: Ron Holl <modlib@removed> Date: Sun, 26 Nov 2006 20:20:28 -0500 Yes, I have been doing that. As Joe said, this was already discussed: Thread Name: Early Blumenthal Bindings Barry Neavill provided an excellent description of this on the list serv under that thread name. Scot, this should probably go on the end paper page. Somehow, this also missed being placed into Barry's Bindery. All add it there as well. ------------------------------------- From: Scot Kamins <kamins@removed> Date: Sun, 26 Nov 2006 18:12:14 -0800 I have a nagging suspicion that there were examples of blank end papers in ALL bindings. ------------------------------------- |
