Personally, I assumed it was real (not having seen another one), seller feedback seemed ok, I just assumed it would set an ML record, and therefore be well out of my price range. What held everyone else back? (ed.: link removed) For those of you missed it, it closed with 2 bids, high bid at $150, but reserve not met. It wasn't in great shape, but it had a glassine jacket and hey, it's an Illustrated Alice. As absurd as it seems, in mid-october 2005 somebody paid a preposterous $1250 for one with a chipped acetate, again on eBay. I've seen about 8 ebay copies in the last 7 or 8 years. The most recent one, (which I bid on) was at the lower end of the condition spectrum. It was a poor copy (no acetate, child's coloring, etc.). But he figured it was his one opportunity.
